The Republican establishment is anxiously awaiting the upcoming elections. Pundits are all over talk radio speculating as to which Democrats are vulnerable and who’s likely to be the next to retire. They’re all chomping at the bit to see which party will be in control after the November elections. They’re missing the point. Parties don’t matter, America matters. If you don’t read The Economist you should consider it. It’s a British news magazine that’s been around since 1843, and like all news magazines it has a liberal slant. Why Bother?
A good friend of mine told me of a political conversation he had with another person, and, when asked, that person admitted that he doesn’t vote. He believes it doesn’t matter since the electoral college decides the outcome. The electoral college only applies to the presidential election, but its impact is important nonetheless, because the result is the loss of a vote. (more…)
